Weekend Treks – Dadz

Fathers are the best. I’m married to one of the finest, 29 years to the day. Papa, Daddy, Bro Joe’s all supreme in their ways. Ellis somewhere knows he has a new great grandson, William Ezra. Dadz rarely get their proper PR. It’s the time to appreciate and remember. I’m a Daddy’s girl forever. Another Father’s Day, another U.S. Open. Can Rory keep up the crazy pace? 11 under after the second round?! Ok, he hit into the drink on 18, but hey. We’ll be celebrating Dadz, Anniversaries, watching golf, missing Tiger. I know, but I do.

U.S. Open Update: Rory McIlroy my kinda golf guy. No waddles, hinks, spider squats. Steps up, takes the shot. Broke so many records. Ror heard round the world, good for you at 22. btw. Why did NBC edit Pledge of Allegiance before the broadcast Sunday? Jack asked, read my response on-air.

Mad World

Crazy Masters Sunday. Rory’s wreckage gave way to divine intervention for Schwartzel’s chips, abetted by Tiger’s timidity on the greens. Aussies acquitted themselves admirably at Augusta. Youth displayed character and class. Best thing about Masters coverage, no creepy commercials with old couples in bath tubs.

Speaking of Masters’ sponsors, loved Ogilvy & Mather’s new IBM campaign. Can they resurrect the Gap brand as well? MadBen’s new MadMen team.

No Trump Bid

Little slam. Trump for Prez? I facetiously said he’d say ‘you’re fired’ to lobbyists and extraneous government staff. But, what is up with this absurd ‘birther’ bent?! Is it just a publicity play? Could be. My theory is that Trump and Oprah are in cahoots to get the wacky right to vote for Trump and split the Republicans so Obama slides in. Giving them too much credit?

Butler, it’s called BASKET ball. Will Tiger be a factor at all in the Masters? I say no. If Phil wins back-to-back, who’ll put the green jacket on him?

Soul Trek

Hey Gary, it’s your birthday! SoulMate. SoulMan. Especially when you wear your J3 downtown shirt. I’ve joined you in the gray brigade, but you are a Silver Fox. Which Prez was elected the day you were born? Happiest Bday to best Dr.Husband, Father on the planet.

Speaking of elections on all souls’ day, we aren’t finished with witches and goblins yet. Have to vote and cover my eyes when the returns come in tonite. I predict dia de los muertos for the democraticos. Say Hey Giants! First World Series win ever in SanFran. Too bad they were not there. Walter sent down dust.

Mad Monday

LastMadCap of the season: Really? Don’s turn of heart shocking. He likes her with his kids more than the mature one who doesn’t like children. Plus mature one wants him to face his past, he’s opting to stay the course into the future. Didn’t see this coming. Betty more evil than ever. Peggy is the true creative genius, Joan’s gambit with pregnancy predictable. Can’t believe we have to wait a year for more. Staying in period costume, I’ll put on my pearls and housedress now to honor June Cleaver RIP.

JoanB introduced us to Henning Mankell’s Kurt Wallander mysteries as an antidote for Stieg Larsson Salander withdrawal. I’m late to the game, but just discovered Kenneth Branaugh as Wallander rebroadcast from BBC on PBS. Watched one episode and it recalls the grit and mood of Stieg’s Sweden as well as its architecture and culture. Dark, bloody in spots, but good.

JeanJean reports Universal in Orlando no walk on Pebble Beach. Flip flopped back and forth between Giants, Pats. Rooting for one, and against the other as always. Both won, so split the cheer. Branch looked good for the Pats, dang nab it. Exciting games and brewskis galore. Yanks now tied 1-1.

21 years ago yesterday we were rockin and rollin in SanFran, Seth Thomas clock on the shelf still stuck at 5:04 p.m.

Weekend Treks – May Daze

This just in- Kirsten Gillibrand, U.S. Senator (D) New York will have a very enthusiastic intern from NYU this summer-Ben Levine. Congrats!

Cuzin Ben met Jake yesterday and was won over by the tiny one’s charms. Lots of aunts, cuzins, and grandmom coming to adore. Jordan and Joe must be smoking ceegars and beaming! Won’t be watching Tiger this weekend. Have to pick Sidney’s Candy for the derby. A very happy birthday to godson Jamison tomorrow, can’t wait to be with him in Maine to celebrate his wonderful accomplishments in a coupla weeks. Shout out to A-man and GQ, you know why.

Speaking of Papa Joe, he was fond of a silly ditty, “hooray hooray the first of May, outdoor blanking starts today”. It is going to be 80+ degrees today, so?!
