Eve Election

Bright spots pre-election post-Sandy. Alec Baldwin hanging out with stranded NYU students. Bloomberg finally making the right call to cancel the marathon. Powered people giving plug-ups to those without. Neighbors helping each other. MayorMike high-fiving Jake at 78th & Mad diner. Living 4 blocks from work.

Bets are in. Massachusetts. Scott or Warren? President. Obama or Romney? Close or Blow-Out? Late night or days out? What say you? Demographic enthusiasm to get out. Turnout. Eve of construction or destruction?

Rave reviews for Argo. Louie’s SNL less so.

Détente

Debate? What was that? I’ve been trying to reconcile my impressions of last night’s get-together. Obama jabbed and Romney ducked. It wasn’t entertaining nor fun. So much agreement. Tensions dissolved. I guess the Prez won. May as well elect Mitt VP. So little difference on so many things. NeoCons must have been throwing bombs at their televisions. Don’t be fooled. PuppMitt is still lurking in there. What he said to appease women is not what he’ll likely do.

Trumpster has a dirty trick up his sleeve. Something YUGE. Rumor has it that he’s going to out Obama for selling coke in college. You’re fired, Donald.

October Surprise?

No more talking. Parsing words. Dissecting sentences. Nit-picking facial ticks. It’s time for action. Obama needs to show us something. Not tell us anything else. Enough Letterman, Daily Show, View. Honey Boo Boo.

Where’s our October surprise? Better hurry up. It’s almost Halloween. Exhibit leadership. Do something Presidential. Catch a bunch of bad guys. Bring all the soldiers home. Make it big. Make it good. Or, Trick not Treat. In a couple of weeks, we could face threat of troops to Iran under President PuppMitt.

Comforting weekend fare. Veggie Lasagne. RecipeDetours.

10-11-12

Will it be a good date for Biden’s debate? Or does Ryan rise to Romney’s success of late? It’ll be entertaining if not game-changing. Why don’t the Dems play Romney’s dueling statements side-by-side? As Repubs did to Kerry. Mitt was for it before he was against it. Lots of things. Must be a Massachusetts trait.

Brown-Warren brawl last night at Springfield’s Symphony Hall. More substance, less ad hominems. Brown catered to local issues. Warren championed consumer causes dear to her base. ‘Hammered’ means different things to each camp.

What’ll we do after 11-6-12 if PuppMitt closes the deal? StuffingtonPosts.

Post Bate

Obama did appear a little annoyed to have to look at angry Ann on his 20th anniversary. But, I guess I’m the only one who thought he was calm, clear and presidential. Romney seemed mad and his math didn’t add up.

Unfortunately, most of you think Mitt took the advice I suggested via Jack Cafferty. I must have seen a different debate. Dr.Husband agrees with the punditry. Doddering Jim Lehrer was absent. Terrible.

Cabrera’s triple crown is something to celebrate.

Prez Pre-Bate

New York Times Magazine article on “The Mitt Romney Who Might Have Been”. If Mitt the Massachusetts moderate had a backbone and didn’t chronically capitulate to the Republican right, he may be a more appealing candidate.

Frank Bruni’s column “Trembling Before Mitt”, wonders which Mitt will show up at tonight’s debate. Success in primary contests was accomplished by his opponents’ lack of gravitas. Perry, Bachmann, Cain et al.

Jack Cafferty asked what Romney needs to do to win the first debate. He read on-air what I said:

First Women

Who will prevail? Michelle Obama spent most of Letterman’s show last week talking about parenting and her work with childhood obesity and Veteran’s needs. She was funny and real. She should stay. Her friend Valerie Jarrett is her President Husband’s closest advisor. She should go. I said so, NYTimes.

Ann Romney got some good reviews at the RNC, but lamenting rising gas and grocery prices fell flat given her reality. In our local Gazette, a letter recounted an appearance by the then Massachusetts First Lady. At a gathering of low-income Moms, Ann told the group how she could relate as the mother of five sons. Why, one time she and Mitt were playing mixed doubles at the Belmont Tennis Club, and she had to leave in the middle of her set to calm a sibling feud. No.

RepubliCants

Big Government Bad. Amend the Constitution for a Federal ban on abortion. Old white guys make the rules about women’s bodies. Don’t take away our Medicare. Until 2020. Bail out big banks. Increase funding to the Defense Department. Bring back NASA. Nation-build around the world. Keep our Empire in tact. Military bases in Germany, Taiwan, Japan, Saudi Arabia… Oh, and the wars.

Small Government Good. Cut funding to PBS. Slash student loans, grants. Borrow money from your parents to go to college. Decrease funding for Veterans’ health care. Repeal Obamacare. Replace it with? Stop infrastructure projects. Where will we drive our cars? On dirt roads and rope bridges?
Drill baby drill.

Evening Joe

Joe the Flubber. Biden. As I said on the air last night on Cafferty, “Let Joe be Joe. Always off the rails, unfiltered. Yet, he is authentic.” Needs to get a grip, though.

Joe the Plumber. He wants to shoot people who come over the border. Joe Walsh called the President a liar. How did that work out? Joe Klein aka “Anonymous” Primary Colors says Paul Ryan lives in Libertarian Disneyland. Joe Scarborough of Morning Joe,  wants to tackle real issues. Why are we spending $Billions a day on tragically flawed wars? Joe Arpaio, from Springfield, MA, now AZ, in bed with Trumpster, still debating Obama’s birth certificate.

And my Joe’s. Grandfather, father, brother, nephew, cousins. All perfecto.

Bain Street

Main Street vs. Bain Street. Why is Mitt surprised? He’s been running for President for like 10 years. He never thought this subject would come up? With documents from the SEC? He should have had his ducks in a row.

Zzzomney was in the bizness of maximizing profits. At any cost. For shareholders. That means downsizing. Outsourcing. Geez. Wasn’t anybody around in the 90’s? Personal tax shelters. Okay, maybe in the old days. But, last year? Perception is everything. This is not competence we can believe in.

The entitled on Bain Street need not heed the problems of Main Street. Until they run for office. Arrogance or ignorance? Either way, scary.
