GOP Smacked

Evil GOP pundits got smacked. Gloating Alert. Loved Rove going nuclear when he didn’t think Ohio should be called. Megyn Kelly lost her smirk. Had to watch Fox & Friends this morning. Deer caught in headlights. Listened to Beck blubbering. Rush ranting that he’s outnumbered. Howie Carr crying like a baby. Eric Bolling bawling on The Five. This was a major reason I was so nervous that Romney may win. I’d have to endure these guys. Ok, gloating done.

What was Diane Sawyer on? Somebody said, only time they want to hear Gallup or Pew again is if a horse breaks wind. Now what are we going to do?

Eve Election

Bright spots pre-election post-Sandy. Alec Baldwin hanging out with stranded NYU students. Bloomberg finally making the right call to cancel the marathon. Powered people giving plug-ups to those without. Neighbors helping each other. MayorMike high-fiving Jake at 78th & Mad diner. Living 4 blocks from work.

Bets are in. Massachusetts. Scott or Warren? President. Obama or Romney? Close or Blow-Out? Late night or days out? What say you? Demographic enthusiasm to get out. Turnout. Eve of construction or destruction?

Rave reviews for Argo. Louie’s SNL less so.

Scare – Ma – Geddon

Hope it’s just hype. They sure are scaring everybody. FrankenStorm. My broom is powered up and ready to go. Candles. Check. Batteries. Check. Water. Check. Pretzels. Check. Gin. Check. May be the last post for a while. Good luck to all.

Fox Terror

FoxNews Alerts! Benghazi. Benghazi. Benghazi. 24/7. Post-Khaddafi Libya is chaotic. Big news. On any given day there could be a mob attacking one group or another. Why are they so obsessed with labeling? Terrorism. Mayhem. Whatever you call it, people died who were trying to make life better in a high risk place. Blaming and naming prematurely could foment further violence. Nuance is necessary in that part of the world. Not Fox-bot bluster.

SanFran’s Sandoval superhuman. Tied the Babe. Rocked the Bay.

Post Bate

Obama did appear a little annoyed to have to look at angry Ann on his 20th anniversary. But, I guess I’m the only one who thought he was calm, clear and presidential. Romney seemed mad and his math didn’t add up.

Unfortunately, most of you think Mitt took the advice I suggested via Jack Cafferty. I must have seen a different debate. Dr.Husband agrees with the punditry. Doddering Jim Lehrer was absent. Terrible.

Cabrera’s triple crown is something to celebrate.

Forty Niners

Happy Birthday, Joey3Sticks. SideTrek fave blogger. Remember that great NFL team from SanFran? Montana, Rice. Joyful notions. Pats perhaps will deliver a better present next weekend. Still in your forties, so. Enjoy. Love you, Bro.

NYTimes Opinionator column by Simon Critchley, is an in-depth study of Mormonism, dubbing the so-called cultive religion as post-Christian. It’s an elucidating read, lots of stuff few knew. Speaking of 49er’s, Mormons were instrumental in establishing California and Utah wealth during the Gold Rush.

Krystal Ball. It’s the real name of a hot cable news talk-bot. And she’s not on Fox. You’re welcome, Joe. Oh, and 49 days to the election.

Life Works

The article that is striking more debate than the lightning outside, is in this month’s The Atlantic. Anne-Marie Slaughter, former high-powered State Department director, has the guts to tell the truth. Women cannot have it all. It is possible to work and have children. It is not possible to do both well. A luxury quandary many women do not have. But, those of us women who cracked the glass ceiling and rose above middle management either made the decision not to have children, or sacrificed family for a career. There, I said it.

Reality bites. Something has to give. Having made the right moves for my family, it still hurt. My career, sometimes my sanity. What the wonderfully complete and complex article does not talk about is how those who are career-only employees also suffer the consequences of so-called work/life balance. Someone has to see the patients or take care of clients while parents are tending to stuffy noses or attending soccer games. There is resentment on both sides of the fence.

In this economy, the next generation will have fewer choices. Whoever has a job will work. No matter the gender.

Hair Die

Several recent articles about young people suffering from reaction to hair dye. Caught my eye. Upon further research, found a few more stories about women in comas and even dying from the same symptoms that scared me into a two-year anxiety attack. After 25+ years of covering my gray, one day I ballooned up like Harry Potter’s Aunt. Quick antihistamines and Dr.Husband saved me.

You don’t read about these cases in the U.S. media. Hmmm. Wonder why?! Most articles are in UK publications, where the level of PPD allowed is much less. It’s the chemical that adheres colorant to hair follicles in all products and absorbs into scalp. Yikes. Now hair straightening products have deadly chemicals, too. Somebody needs to sound the alarm. Ring Ring Ring.

Tea Trekkers

32,000 Side Trekkers. Reading ‘tea leaves’ theme of the week. “When will things get back to normal?” MadMan Roger’s plaintive query. 1966.

So… 2012. Sarah will beat Katie in the ratings. Lame stream media loses either way. Cheeleaders, murders. But, hey I’m watching. Sad. Valerie Jarrett and the current Obama team needs to be replaced. Speaking of weak. Oh no! Now Beverly Hills housewives, desperation on GMA. Done. Back to Mika & Joe.

Kentucky beats Kansas. Yawwwn. Got my pink hat out. Will IBM’s CEO Ginni Rometty wear a green jacket? I say not. Can’t wait for the Masters and the return of Spring weather. A little iced English breakfast tea, please. recipedetours.com
