In A Blink

Tiger and Stevie together again. At least for 2 days at the U.SOpen. Seems like yesterday they were winning majors every week. Not one since… Tebow newly signed with Pats. On one knee. Why? And after a Blue Heron wedding in Sunderland 3 years ago, Jane Lynch and her wife are done with a wink.

Game of Thrones marathon complete. Red Wedding carnage. Lorca would be proud. Dragons are cool. Kids rule. MadMen6 almost done. Series began just a blink ago. But, before the NY advertising world was a twinkle in mAdBen’s eye.

Arrested Development

Never a show fan, its reprise seems apt. Everyone in government is infected with the disease. Including the White House. IRS chief, Lois Lerner, pleaded the 5th on our local law school commencement speech the day before. Whatta mess.

Weiner’s name a deal-breaker. If that’s your moniker, pick a different deviant behavior than package tweets. Can’t even say he played stick ball.  Jodi jury deadlocked. How are they going to seat a new one that hasn’t seen her on every television outlet? And, how do you say ‘fried chicken’ in Spanish, Sergio?

Good arrested development. Cancer patients’ survivor longevity and improvements in post-treatment care. Congrats to E. Gould on 5 years as patient editor of MSKCC’s award-winning Bridges newsletter.

Waste Land

It’s almost porch reading season. Help! Good books wanted. Best Sellers. Either, I’ve read most of them a year ago. Or, they are 50 shades of insipid romance. And, I don’t follow Patterson or any other mystery serials. Any ideas? Donna Tartt’s third book in 30 years, Goldfinch, doesn’t come out until October.

Passover-Easter. Second week of Spring break continues. If you don’t like basketball, you are screwed. Sweet 16. Still have 3. FGCSU. Who? Golf delayed. Johnny Miller livid, a Tiger Sunday gone with the wind. Golf Channel today.

Too cold to take Sugar Shack Side Treks. Maybe next week.

Late WinTer

Sun warmed longer days as clocks click ahead. Hotel Giraffe’s roof mid-afternoon. Delectable late winter root vegetables and pork offal at Washington Square’s Blue Hill. Braised hake the winner. Birthday treat to remember.

Tiger took charge of the last tourney on the original ‘blue monster’ at Miami’s historic Doral. Trump is blowing it up for redesign. Sightings… Johnny Depp on West 14th. Jim Parsons Park Avenue South. He and Alan Alda dined at Ciano.

My final four picks. Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Gonzaga. Huh? Or, is that il Papa.

Weekend Liaisons

Downton out. Killing off cast faster than General Hospital. Heartwarming liaisons formed. Baby boy born. Happy. And then, poof. No more Matthew. Speaking of silly, GH bringing geezer couples (Luke&Laura) back. Fast-forward.

Woodward smacks down Rove on Fox! Bob looked at Karl and told him he’s writing a book called, Some People Never Go Away. PricelessMcCain and Graham non-stop steaming as Obama and Woods tee off together. Hope Tiger doesn’t take Prez “out” while Michelle and girls are skiing in Aspen. Dangerous.

Sweet to meet the lovely and captivating Lilly Leigh at La Fiorentina.
Another visit to my favorite Bryant barn in winter. Thanks Dr.Photog.

Super Sides

Super weekend. Hope Strahan, EddieDe make the Hall of Fame.
Harbaugh BroBowl. Sibling rivalry on steroids. Go Jim! Go Niners!

Chuck ducked. After yesterday, Hagel should ditch DefenseSec job. Not only was his performance laconic, he sounded incompetent, and didn’t act like he even wants it. McCain, Graham, Cruz were rude and hostile, but Chuck was bad. Sad.

mAdBen, are you ‘mystery man’ bowling with Katie Holmes in your building?
SuperSunday Omelette w/ Kaepernick Capers.  RecipeDetours.  Bon Weekend.

Comity Cliff

Déjà vu all over again. Ground hog day. Take your pick. Here we go, again. Over the cliff. No comity on the horizon. Just bad jokes as the tragi-comedy for the economy unfolds. Then another debt ceiling comedy show in a couple of weeks.

So, enjoy the New Year, a fresh foot of snow. Football. Movies on-demand. Surprisingly, I didn’t hate Ted . It had some tender moments. And The Guard, set in Ireland was good. Bought season 1 of Homeland for a marathon into 2013.

The Side Trek – Worst 2012

If the world doesn’t end on December 21st, then:

Trump. Rove. Grover. Rush. Foxbots. You’re all fired.
Solidified Congressional divide. Teapots.
Zzzomney & AynRyan. Clint’s empty chairs.
Social media. Anti-social.
Reality shows. Drunk friend-jumping plastic people.
Tiger. Lance. Football injuries.
Global instability. For real.
Benghazi. Benghazi. Benghazi. For ratings.
Sandy.
Sandusky.
Sandy Hook.     12/14/12

Worcester Cup

Yup. The first Ryder Cup matches were played in 1927 at Worcester Country Club, Massachusetts. This year, Davis Love’s team v. Jose Maria Olazabal’s equipo. At Medinah, Illinois. USA! v. Lay o Lay! U.S. v. Europe. For 3 days. Weird terms like dormie, all-square. Rounds that end too soon.

What do Michael Phelps and Justin Timberlake have to do with golf? Only get to see fourball, foursomes. Off to the West Side. Have to admit, I usually root for Europe. They seem more “teamy” than the Americans. Esprit de Corps. Cool partiers who have fun. And they don’t all have the same “wife”.
