TTSD & Me

Spotted this enterprising guy in Central Park. Where else could his buttons be more popular? As I was buying one as a gift for my TTSD-suffering Dr. Husband, a group of school kids came over wanting to see the array of choices. Dr. H bought them a few, too. One young man whispered to me, “I voted for Trump over Hillary”. He was maybe 12. I said, why? He said because if Hillary were President, we’d already be at war now. Hmmm.

Then a wonderfully hilarious column about MSNBC addiction in the NY Times spoke to me. Every time I walk into a room it’s on. Pedantic pontificating hosts are killing me! So related.

“It’s Mueller Time”

Music Hits Manhattan

Grammys return to NYC. Riri & DJ beat Bruno & Cardi B as well as Elton & Miley. They all bested Jay-Z. But. What do puppies have to do with it? Dogs are everywhere. Jeez. And. It’s a music show. Why can’t they ever get the sound right? Even at MSG. In Memoriam Imagine mosaic at Strawberry Fields. Where daily we hear buskers sing Lennon songs off-key.

At the end of the day it’s 24K.

Advanced Perspectives

Trucked-in snow for the little ones. Afternoon outdoor pop-up bar at Tavern on the Green in Central Park with visiting sis as her husband took in Tosca at the Met. Tiger made the cut. Always good. Mex dinner with cousins fun. As for tonight’s Grammys. It’s a bit sad. Recognize Jay-Z and Bruno Mars. That’s about it. Fewer every year. Even more telling, enjoyed Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon.
So. It’s official. We’re advanced.

Grayson v. Grayson

Snow bomb!! Cyclone-genesis!! A monster winter storm named Grayson. Kaboom! All hands on deck. Set to hit the New York area. Where Edward Grayson happens to be the Director of Cleaning and Collection. Yes. Who will win this monstrous challenge? Winter Storm Grayson. Or. Snowplow boss Grayson. Mano a mano. A coincidental combat for the ages! We’ll see.

Cathedral of Saint John the Divine

Buon Natale!

Faux Claire

House of Cards creator Beau Willimon’s Broadway debut The Parisian Woman falls flat. As edgy as Robin Wright is as Claire Underwood in the Netflix series, Uma Thurman as Chloe in this modern-day play is not. Thurman seems tentative in her portrayal of a supposedly scheming liberal in Trump’s Washington political landscape. Related jokes are few and dated. Characters are generally mis-cast even as the weak writing would test any actor. Blair Brown displays her professional chops and is the only standout.

On the plus side. The Hudson Theater has been brilliantly brought back to its 1903 glory. Hotel conference room sheetrock was torn down to reveal crown moldings and historic detail from Ethel Barrymore’s stage heyday. It reopened last year and is worth the visit.

Twelve Days of Central Park Christmas

Twelve twirling dog-poop bags.
Eleven grinding garbage trucks.
Ten horns a honking.

Nine tourists searching for Strawberry Fields.
Eight nannies yacking on cell phones.
Seven kamikaze skateboarders.
Six clueless Citi-Bikers.
Five gritty horse-drawn carriage drivers.
Four scamming pedi-cabs.
Three rats a running.
Two turtles sunning.
And a pigeon under a ginko biloba tree.

Throwback Thursday

The Gates. 2005.

Daily gaits. 2017.

No snow in sight. So far.

Tiger Woods is back on the links. Under par.

Dennis Rodman of Celebrity Apprentice fame. Mutual friend of our Portly President and North Korea’s Dumpy Despot. Could he broker a summit to thwart nuclear war? Just to be safe. Revert to 1950’s duck and cover under your desks. Or huddle in the nearest bomb shelter.
