Media Myopia

Mainstream media learned nothing from the last election. Still missing the mood of the country outside the beltway. Completely in denial that their polls and data were grossly inaccurate. Pushing Hillary’s dominance swayed the results more than Russian interference. Yet. That’s all they are focused on. Like dogs with a bone. Constant coverage of Trump campaign’s potential collusion with Putin. Once again they are living in the Northeast elitist bubble. Thinking that the rest of the country is similarly outraged. They are not.

Economy. Jobs. Infrastructure. Healthcare. Terrorism. They still care about things like that.

Donald Badenov

Cartoony. Even Rocky & Bullwinkle’s stumbling Russian spy Boris Badenov cannot rival Donald the Dufus’ latest bumble. Hey Lavrov! Back slap Kislyak. Come into my Oval office. Bring your cameras and listening devices. Dah. Dah. You von’t show photos, okay? Let me tell you Ruskie guys. Ve get such huge intelligence on Isis. Thees is vhere ve get it. Better than you. Vant to see my electoral map? Crowds at inauguration? Thanks for coming boys. Daz Vee Dahnya.

Now CNN vill never shut up.

Masked Ball

Masking. Unmasking. It’s a dangerous dance. A waltz of so-called classified leaks on both sides of the floor. CNN’s national security guy Jim Sciutto worked in Obama’s White House. His former ABC colleague was none other than Susan Rice’s husband. Hmm. Wonder where Sciutto gets his “inside info” on alleged Russia connections. It’s a CNN obsession.

Meanwhile. Korea. Syria. China.

Tweet the Press

Media elite retreat? As tweets beat the press a new era emerges. The good news may be that those cozy with the Washington ruling class no longer hold sway. Incestuous relationships formerly affording access and creating bias will be broken up. Hope so. Maybe reporting will return to what it was meant to do. Objective investigative work with no political agenda. It could be a better journalistic environment serving the general public.

Unless. Oops. Mika & Joe seen lurking around Mar-a-Lago. Nothing’s perfect.

Election Elegy

Whatever the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election, there will be a deep collective sigh of sadness. For the loss of comity and civility in politics, journalism, society as a whole.

The Republican Establishment will have to find a way to acknowledge and address the anger of Trump’s supporters. J.D. Vance’s Hillbilly Elegy is the most glaring glimpse into generations of cultural and economic suffering in rural America. The country has reached a true tipping point.

Democrats have also left a large swath of its voters in the lurch. Clinton’s coronation was baked into the entire primary process cake with Bernie Sanders’ followers remaining disgruntled and disaffected. Big money interests will endure.

Either way the scales stay unbalanced. We’re left with a lament.

This is TNN

The joke’s on the GOP. And FauxNews. Many have speculated that no one was more surprised than the Donald himself at becoming the Republican Presidential Nominee. Especially since he’s always pretty much been a Democrat. But. As has been presented by media insiders like Mark Halperin and a full-fledged essay in The Atlantic, we can guess at his end-game.

It’s not to be President, which his self-sabotage and resistance make obvious. It’s to form Trump News Network. TNN. On-air talent will include ex-Fox-bots and loyal Trumpettes. Run by Roger Ailes and Steve Bannon. Ann Coulter and Matt Drudge will join the team. Howie Carr will have his own call-in show. Moonbats, hacks and rump swabs beware! This is TNN.

Roger Over and Out

The biggest story of this election season. Trump as the Republican nominee? Nope. It’s Ailes’ ouster as CEO of FoxBot Nation. The deacon of cleavage and legs finally got his parting shot. Media’s Most Obvious Dirty Old Man. Conservative icon gone. Karl Rove will now have to ditch the dress. Good riddance Roger.

American Brands

Clinton v. Trump. Hillary Clinton’s brand supersedes her gender. The Clintonian era is indelibly etched in main stream America’s modern culture. President. Two Terms. First Lady. Senator. Global Initiative. Presidential Candidate. Secretary of State. Presidential Candidate. Only the Bushes rival this stalemate.

The Trump brand is long suffered, too. True. Beauty pageants. Skating rinks. Casinos. Apprentice reality tv show. High rises. Golf courses. But, in politics. His brand is new.

Speaking of branding. Will she use her first name to keep the distinction pure? Hillary/Tim ticket. Or Clinton/Kaine.
