Going to the Dogs

The Big Dog. Donald. As W. and Laura arrive to prop up Jebra’s languishing bid in South Carolina, appearing in the little box, Trump coincidentally holds a news conference on the big screen. Mika & Morning Joe will have El Trumpo at the same time Anderson Cooper hosts a Town Hall with Cruz and Rubio.

The Lap Dog. Marco Play-Doh. Republican Establishment’s favorite puppy.

Best in Show. Hillary. She makes it too easy. How did she not know that the talk shows would play clips of her many prevarications followed by barking dogs.

Westminster’s actual choice will be made tonight.

Quantitative Resistance

Quantitative easing no longer works. Central Banks and The Fed have run out of pills for an arcane anemic global economy. Interest rates are at 0%. Sub-zero is not a fix to stimulate. Neither Cialis nor Viagra. It’s back to basics. Bump and grind. But, how and what? Robots replacing assembly lines. Retail on life support. Replacement therapy necessary.

Case for Kasich

True. He is a long shot. First hurdle. His name. Kasick. Not the way it’s spelled. John Kasich is the current second-term Governor of Ohio, with a successful record. Unlike Christie. Bush was one long ago. Executive experience is a plus. Kasich is a fiscal and social common sense moderate. Many in New Hampshire are choosing between him and Hillary. He is authentic and likes people. You can see the connection in Town Halls.  As an alum of the U.S. Congress and a banker, he has a myriad of experience. God-fearing. Yes. Compassionate. Not evangelical. Seems to understand the church/state divide. Has integrity. Will he do well in today’s first primary? Don’t know. If so. Onward.

If not, we risk a Bush-Clinton re-run show. No!!!!!

Nationalism v. Socialism

Donald v. Bernie. Or someone in between? In Europe, Democratic Socialism is giving way to Nationalism in the wake of economic disparities. Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece v. Germany, Netherlands, France. Layer the refugee crisis onto that and xenophobia is on the rise. As immigration and ISIS take over the headlines in the U.S., will isolationism or income inequality win?

Voters will answer in tonight’s Iowa caucuses. The first test. Are we migrating toward polar extremes on either side or stick middle course? Cruz is just nuts.

Jokers Wild

House of Cards script could not compete with last night’s political theatrics. The Trump Jet rolls onto the Des Moines tarmac with media frenzy and flashing bulbs. Long lines queue up around a small auditorium to await his arrival. Adele’s hits blaring through the hall. Across town, Cruz and Rubio snark at each other and Chris Wallace. Megyn Kelly holds court with a montage of each frontrunner’s flip flopping clips. A brutal hit job on both. Dulce Candy affords Jeb sweet revenge. But, too little too late?

Donald hugs it out with Huckabee and Santorum who won Iowa in past caucuses. Should he have gone to the debate? Of course not. It was his Frank Underwood (F.U.) moment. Could this get anymore fun? Bon weekend.

Trump Change

Hillary gave uniquely genuine performance at the Town Hall. Her confidence and uncharacteristic charisma boosted by the President’s kind words. Bernie brought some heat. They both showed passion in a rather lackluster format. Obama will meet with Sanders at the White House to balance the scales.

The story of the day is Trump’s petulant refusal to join the Thursday debate on FOX. Megyn Kelly as host a jab, then Roger Ailes poked the beast. Amped up the snark to which Donald said screw you. His rules. What will he do?

Scaffolds Scar NYC

There has been an explosion of steel scaling sides of buildings all over New York City. Restaurants. Hotels. Residential buildings. These metal webs remain installed not for months but for years. It’s a new era of blight causing claustrophobic tunnels shrouding sidewalks from the sun and blocking New York’s historical architectural beauty.

Just found out that one of our favorite Upper West Side seafood restaurants Ocean Grill  has closed. Entrance-obstructing scaffolding has left former sidewalk diners and customers at bay since 2012.

What the hell?

Lucid Lunacy

He’s done it. El Trumpo made himself the sane choice of the old Republican guard. He has replaced their view of him as the sideshow huckster with a scarier Carnival Cruz. The fringe right are out to dump the Trump which just confirms him as the more mainstream choice. If Mike Bloomberg doesn’t join the fray, at the end of the day it’ll be Donald J. Despite the fact that Sarah Palin is now in play. Predict cold open on SNL this weekend will feature Darrell Hammond and Tina Fey. Oy vey. Blame John McCain!

Full moon and just south a blizzard blows. Carolina v. Pats in the SuperBowl. Safe weekend.

Ludic Dreams

My playful predilections and demented dreams are coming true. Entertainment alert. Who knew? Bern rising so much so that Morning Mika suggested that Hillary will need to team up with Elizabeth Warren on the ticket!! What a dynamic duo. Whoa. And Sarah Palin will indeed be “palling around” with Donald Trump. Not her old buddy Cruz. Can’t make it up. No one could conjure a more outlandish reality show. And I can see it from my house!

What’s next? Melania will leave Donald and hook up with Bill. Huma and Hillary will run away together. Mike Bloomberg will swoop in and become our next Prez. Yes!
