Media Multi-Tasking

Started Messiah series. So far intriguing. Also The Outsider. Jason Bateman. Different. Then. Sunday Marathon.

Mahomes never quits. Spunky finish to send Kansas City Chiefs to the Super Bowl. Over in Santa Clara. Jimmy G didn’t have to work hard. Mostert and blockers dominated to easily take Niners to the NFC win.

Next. Ray Donovan finale. Characters stay true to themselves. Well-written and acted. Sláinte on a gritty season. Then. Capped off the evening fast-forwarding through the SAG Awards. Highlights. Schitts’ Eugene & Dan Levy. Peter Dinklage. Jennifer Anniston. Wow.

Oh. And. NYTimes endorsed Amy & Lizzie. Sorry Joe & Bernie.

Meanwhile. Scanning great photos from St. Vigilio Dolomiti Italia.

mAd Ski Ben.

Dee Breef

Okay. So. Pats were topped by Titans. Too bad. Ish. Brady on the loose as Kraft takes a back seat to Weinstein.

Trump’s clumsy wag-the-dog Iran strike has changed the subject. The Chaos Doctrine. Mandates a fresh look at the Dem candidates. Who can best take back the reins as a global leader?

Most of Golden Globe winners. Never saw the movies. Nor shows. However. Brad Pitt is more gorgeous than ever. Classy stands out. Some orbs. Others not. Ricky Gervais anti-elite shouts. Well done.

Schitt’s tonite. And. How will Ray Donovan get out of this one?

UnPrecedential

Opinion columns widely lament the dilution of impeachment. As with all things Trump. Bad behavior has become the norm. By him and as the IG Report showed many others in government. So if everything is bad. Nothing is bad.

Two old white guys steadily lead the Democrat pack. Biden and Bernie. Frank Bruni wonders if Mayor Pete is too young. Mike Bloomberg is too rich. Elizabeth & Amy too female. So. Then. Who?

On the fun side. The Presidents Cup. Golf in Australia on TV last night. U.S. vs. Non-European International players. Despite a certain son saying I’m the only person lame enough to have watched it, seeing Captain Tiger play well was great. So there.

Sense and Sensibility

As the election year shapes up, voters look for authenticity in candidates and politicians. Mayor Pete is a married gay military vet who hunts. He doesn’t play any of those cards for identity label advantage. Lizzie Warren is a consistent consumer hawk who talks about her life. But. Never plays the woman card as a thing. Both rising in the polls.

Series finale of The Affair. Made total sense. A sublime ending with earned redemption and hope. Beautifully crafted by Sarah Treem, the brilliant writer also noted for In Treatment and House of Cards.

And. Lamar Jackson, QB Ravens. C’mon.

Zo Zo Good

While we were waking up to another soggy weekend morning, hearing the news that U.S. Special Forces bagged Al-Baghdadi, Tiger was teeing up his fourth round at the ZOZO Tournament in Japan. Which he won. Tying Sam Snead’s record.

Later. Niners crushed the Panthers 51 – 13. Can that be right? And. Belichick racked up his 300th Patriots win. As fans booed the Prez, Houston creamed the Nationals 7-1, now leading World Series 3-2.

Managed to get in a good mystery as well.   Drowning With Others
by an amalgamated woman-man author team called Linda Keir.

Side Lines

Some people need to take themselves out of the fray.

Hillary. You lost. Get over it. Tulsi Gabbard. Jill Stein. Russian assets. Really? Besides the Russians, Jim Comey, misogynistic men, complicit women, electoral college. Okay. How about looking in the mirror. And. Just. Go away!

U.S. Senators who are running against Trump should recuse themselves from the impeachment trial jury. Or get out of the Presidential race. Direct conflict of interest.

Tom Brady. Retire already. Let somebody else win once in a while.

Monday Grind

Rafa Nadal brilliantly battled out a 5-set grunting grind against Russia’s relentless Steely Dan Medvedev. A match for the ages.

U.S. Open has a new Queen. Romanian Canadian Anrdreescu. Serena slayer. Prez Trudeau sent congrats. While Meghan ditched her royal duties for a friend. Fashion week should rethink purple rain. Anna.

Logan Roy quotes Shakespeare to Cherry Jones. “Just Take the Money”.  The kids are not all right. Marcia goes rogue. Cousin Gregory rising.

Mark Sanford announces he’ll run against Trump for the Republican nom. He’ll focus on ethics and honesty in the party? That’s rich. Biden couldn’t muster a crowd at New Hampshire’s Dem convention. While Warren’s appearance filled a rowdy arena. Iowa & New Hampshire don’t seem to be going Joe’s way. But. Hey. There’s always Delaware.

For a belly laugh. Conan Without Borders in Greenland. Hilarious. Also his trip with sidekick to Italy and Japan. Bourdain-esque with lots of funny. ABC’s Sunday Rahm & Christie show continues to entertain.

Yankees won. Giants lost. Niners won. Pats. Duh. As NFL’s contracts get fatter, injured list gets longer. Good Luck!

Talking to Your kid

The most remarkable thing I noticed at the U.S. Open. Besides Nadal’s OCD ticks. Or Serena’s fashion felonies. A mother talking to her son in the stands. Neither of them had a screen in front of them. They were actually having a conversation. That it was noteworthy. Sad.

Lobster Day Weekend

End of summer traditions. Steamers & lobster & corn-on-the-cob. Just a Metro North train away. Fabulous backyard clam bake.

On Center Court. Osaka showed heart & class. If not game in the end. #McCoco doubles team regained youthful glee. Djok choked. And. Sorry Serena. But. That outfit was just purple rain.

Over at HBO. Logan coddles a fragile Kendall. Roman goes to management training. Shiv shakes her head as Holly & Cherry join the fray.  But hey. Always intriguing new acquisitions at RoyCo.

‘Twas a bon weekend.

Tennis Anyone?

Loved playing tennis with Dad. Happy Bday, by the way. He’d have a stogie perched between his teeth as he lobbed and dunked shots. Using either hand. He often beat so-called classic players. Kinda like Bobby Riggs. Dad called me the Evergreen, because I never moved. Well.

Loved watching Tennis when it was Johnny Mac & Jimmy, Ivan & Boris, Martina & Chrissie. Then lost interest. Life got hectic.

Now I’m back. This year’s U.S. Open. Less grunting and screeching. Chrissie, Johnny & Pat Mac commentating. Depth and insight even if a bit snippy. But. It’s the charismatic, brilliantly poised fifteen-year old. Call her Coco. Gauff. She’s great for the sport. And. ESPN.

Random question. Why are all the coaches men?
