It’s clear why McCain was so dogged in his criticism of Susan Rice. He divulged a fierce loyalty to John Kerry in an emotional endorsement today. McCain couldn’t let Kerry be passed over for Secretary of State by someone he felt not as worthy.

On a local note, Lydia Davis was one of this year’s international Booker prize finalists. She was born in Northampton to renowned literary parents.
