NewTatoo

American movie version of Tatoo Girl coming out. Will it turn the dark, gritty evil of the Swedish films into stark gratuitous violence? Not sure I can see it. Want to remember Noomi Rapace as the perfect depiction of Lisbeth Salander.

NewTon Leroy kissed the Donald’s ring at Trump Tower. Ron Paul suggested they go next door to Tiffany’s to buy Christmas gifts for their wives. Jack Cafferty asked how important Trump’s endorsement is. He read what I said, “It’s more Zales than Tiffany. Nouveau cheap.” As Obama rallies ’round the Middle Class.

CrystalBallz-2011

Good riddance to ‘Year of the Skunk’. No, not the Chinese year. My year.
Half of it spent with skunky hair until it eclipsed to silvery white. Then, last winter, stinky smell under porch. Skunks had taken up residence along with a few ‘possums. When they didn’t get along, pee yew. Called pest guy. Bye skunks!

2011 Predictions: It’ll rain. It’ll snow. It’ll be hot. It’ll be cold. I’ll turn old-er.
New books may hit the stands. Grads, weds, babes. Last undergrad tuition paid. Hula hoop, ‘no dinner diet’ continue. Or, pajama jeans. Tiger, GMac win majors. Morning Joe tosses hat in the ring. Larsson’s 4th manuscript published. DonDraper gets another MountHolyoke. Frister birthday celebration somewhere fun. Ballz rise and drop. Times Square, Main Street, elsewhere. Happy New Year!

Saw “The Girl Who Played With Fire”.  As with the first, this film captures the soul of the book almost to perfection, in some ways better. I wouldn’t want to watch it dubbed in English, hearing the Swedish voices in the gritty ambience of Stockholm keeps it real. Noomi Rapace, who plays Lisbeth is flawless, cannot imagine another in the role. Best adaptation since Zhivago. Same production company and director as Wallander series on BBC.

Will SF Giants win World Series for the first time since moving from NY to SF in the 50′s? MadDog on Morning Joe says so. Lots of people showed up for Sanity, but Dems still gonna get burned tomorrow. Saintz preserve us.

MadMonday

LastMadCap of the season: Really? Don’s turn of heart shocking. He likes her with his kids more than the mature one who doesn’t like children. Plus mature one wants him to face his past, he’s opting to stay the course into the future. Didn’t see this coming. Betty more evil than ever. Peggy is the true creative genius, Joan’s gambit with pregnancy predictable. Can’t believe we have to wait a year for more. Staying in period costume, I’ll put on my pearls and housedress now to honor June Cleaver RIP.

JoanB introduced us to Henning Mankell’s Kurt Wallander mysteries as an antidote for Stieg Larsson Salander withdrawal. I’m late to the game, but just discovered Kenneth Branaugh as Wallander rebroadcast from BBC on PBS. Watched one episode and it recalls the grit and mood of Stieg’s Sweden as well as its architecture and culture. Dark, bloody in spots, but good.

JeanJean reports Universal in Orlando no walk on Pebble Beach. Flip flopped back and forth between Giants, Pats. Rooting for one, and against the other as always. Both won, so split the cheer. Branch looked good for the Pats, dang nab it. Exciting games and brewskis galore. Yanks now tied 1-1.

21 years ago yesterday we were rockin and rollin in SanFran, Seth Thomas clock on the shelf still stuck at 5:04 p.m.
