Since we are still using coolers on the porch, no recipes from here until fridge gets fixed. GE can you hear me? Not fun for a cook! Finding that canned soups, chilis, sauces are filled with salt, sodium. Even the “healthy” choices.

Got a good gift from AnniePants, ‘Breakfast with Buddha’ a novel by Roland Merullo. He’s a local author and writes a witty ditty. The true gift was the thought provoking nature of the story. Life on the ‘back roads’, taking The Side Treks.

Spent Mother’s Day with Father. Son finishing finals and papers. Yummy lobster roll from the shack for dinner. I made myself Mother’s Day Huevos Rancheros for brunch. Excellent. See RecipeDetours. Some people I know had cupcakes for dinner. Say it ain’t so! No wonder JLo’s single bombed, she repeatedly mispronounces ‘Louboutins’, plus the song sucks.
I made the mistake of saying I hate cup cakes on my thesidetrek blog. Oh boy, it set off a firestorm.

Why the cup cake fad? Hate cake, in cups, frosting, doo-dads on top. Don’t get cup cakes. Magnolia Bakery cup cakes, neither. Hope Cynster had good bday camping in the Adirondacks yesterday, warmer and dryer than here. Hope no cup cakes. JeanJean will be teaching sex, drugs, rock & roll at middle school this fall. Maybe she can make cup cakes with her class.
Speaking of cup cakes, stumbled upon Hummus recipe. Had can of chick peas sitting in cupboard. Took out the blender and added Drew’s Lemon Goddess dressing (like quarter cuppish), hot pepper flakes, a little more lemon juice. Blended it all to a semi-dense dip substance, not too thick. Good, but wouldn’t use it in cup cakes. You could.
